Practicum Student Counsellor

I am Victoria Fitch, a practicum student through Yorkville University, completing my Master of Arts in Counselling and Psychology. I am a rural-raised Saskatchewan born mother of two who has returned from living 14 years in Nova Scotia. While out east, I volunteered with Circles of Support and Accountability, where I absorbed the values that everyone is accountable and no one is disposable. This has deeply ingrained a person-centered approach; I aim to meet people where they are, as they are, and to uncover the solutions within their reach. Drawing from cognitive behavioural approaches, as well as narrative therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, and solutions-focused therapy, I tailor my approach to the client’s needs to help build resilience and work towards the outcome they desire.

Healing begins with realizing that a person is not damaged; not broken. Rather, it is that the body and mind have devised ways to protect itself, and while those protective measures may have served a purpose in the past, they no longer do so. My role is to help people discover better ways to cope, better ways to communicate, and better ways to write their story that more accurately reflect their growth, strength, and resiliency.

I provide reduced rate counselling for clients ages 10+ virtually for presenting concerns such as:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Trauma
  • Stress management
  • Addictions
  • Grief and loss
  • Location: Saskatoon
