Courtney Ruszkowski, BISW, RSW
Clinical Counsellor/Registered Social Worker
I am a Registered Social Worker with 14 years of experience working with children, youth, adults and families. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Social Work from the First Nations University of Canada. I am experienced in the areas of mental health, anxiety, depression, suicide/self-harm, Autism, ADHD, FASD, body image, stress management, crisis intervention and grief. I have additional education and training in rehabilitation, trauma informed practice and believe in using a strength-based approach. Additionally, I have recently received certification in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for trauma.
I have worked with various areas of mental health and wellness with a special interest in trauma, anxiety, depression and stress management. I have provided services to children, youth, adults and families. I like to focus on an individual’s strengths and help guide them to achieve balance, healing and resiliency. My practice is focused on person-centered, strength based, cultural sensitivity and trauma informed care. I believe it is important for a person to know they are not alone on their healing journey.
I am passionate about the work I do and the individuals I get to meet along the way. Life brings many challenges and with this ever-changing world I believe it is important to have the guidance one needs to work through what life brings us. I know it can be scary taking the firsts steps. I strive to provide a comfortable environment and listening ear as I know it can be difficult to open up about your pains and trauma. I believe that it is important to know you have someone to walk on your healing journey with, that understands what you are going through. I feel that I learn just as much from those who I work with as they do from me.
I enjoy expanding my knowledge and education and strive to learn as much as I can in order to help you through your journey. I aim to provide a safe and comfortable environment for you whether that be outdoors, in the office, phone or video calls. I will work with what makes you comfortable in your journey, after all you are deciding the direction to take. I am here to walk alongside you and assist with moving forward through life and fully embracing it.
