Brigitt de Villiers, BSW, RSW
Clinical Counsellor/Registered Social Worker
I am a Registered Social Worker with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers. I graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Regina in 2009. I have diverse social work experience working with various ages and abilities in education, health care and the community. Prior to my BSW, I was a hemodialysis and home care nurse, working in hospitals, dialysis clinics and the community.
I view a client’s decision to begin counseling as a courageous act of self-care, which can often also evoke feelings of uncertainty and fear. With a compassionate approach, I encourage clients to explore their thoughts and feelings within a safe and non-judgmental environment, fostering a therapeutic relationship that nurtures trust, honesty, understanding, and collaboration.
I offer a holistic approach, considering the whole person, not just their mental health needs. This holistic perspective also promotes physical, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being, encompassing various factors such as the environment, family dynamics, culture, and more. I embrace an integrative, client-centered, and systemic approach to meet the unique needs of each client. I incorporate a strength-based approach and utilize aspects of solution-focused and mindfulness practices, empowering clients with the support and skills necessary to move through life’s challenges with greater resilience.
With a special interest in grief and loss, I completed my End-of-Life Doula training through Douglas College and obtained a Death, Dying & Bereavement Certificate through Wilfrid Laurier University’s Faculty of Social Work. I have a passion for guiding clients and their families to shift their perception of death, dying, and loss from one of fear, sadness, and overwhelm to a perspective of deep connection, meaningfulness, and the potential for emotional healing.
I work with clients ages 12+ in the areas of:
- Grief and loss
- Chronic Illness
- End-of-Life Support
- Traumatic Bereavement
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Women’s Health – including maternal health and pregnancy loss
- Mindful Self-Compassion

In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities with my husband and three children, exploring lakes, fishing, hiking trails, and one of my favorite pastimes – gardening. When winter arrives, you’ll often find me on the cross country ski trails, an integral part of my self-care routine.
