Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART®)

What is ART®:

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART®) is a therapeutic modality founded by Laney Rosenzweig in 2008.  ART® provides non-invasive relief to the emotional pain and distressing memories/images that we carry by using rapid eye movements.

ART® reprograms the brain by creating new neuropathways at a rapid rate in comparison to other psychotherapy modalities.  This evidence-based therapy remarkably provides significant improvement in one to five sessions.  Remarkably, when using ART®, trauma is often resolved in one session   In ART® we keep the facts/information about distressful memories but lose the emotional pain that was once attached.

This therapy provides a new hope for a “lighter and happier future”.  Clients have reported to have lost the negative physical sensations and memories that have held them back for years.  The motto of this therapy is “Keep the Knowledge, Lose the Pain”.

ART® can be used for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Abandonment and Attachment issues
  • Addiction/substance abuse
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief and Loss
  • Learning Disabilities: Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism
  • Eating Disorders
  • Pain management
  • Performance Enhancement – Sports and Employment
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Phobias
  • Panic attacks
  • Negative self-talk
  • OCD
  • Relationship issues
  • Self-esteem (ex. poor body image)
  • Self-abandonment
  • Trauma

What are the eye movements all about?

The eye movement used are relaxing and resemble the eye movement of that in REM sleep.  The eye movements allow us to process memory and emotion…how the brain sees the problem and the body feels the problem.  The eye movements also activate the parasympathetic system, allowing the body and brain to move out of the stress response (fight, flight, or freeze) to a more deactivated and relaxed state.  Therefore, it resets our response system from being reactive to be responsive.

What is the process?

To start, schedule a 60-minute session with an ART® trained clinician. At this time the Clinician will conduct an assessment and gather information.  The Clinician and client will determine treatment plan thereafter.

After your assessment appointment, you may schedule an ART® appointment in our online booking system.

Remarkably trauma can often be resolved in one session using ART®.  Ongoing issues or complex trauma may require additional ART® sessions, however, comparatively, ART® will require less sessions than traditional psychotherapy modalities.

Will it erase my memories?

No, ART® will not erase the information.  You will keep the facts and always know the event occurred.  However, it will change the way the body responds to the memory as well as change negative and distressful images.  You will keep the knowledge, but the emotional and physiological pain attached to the situation will reduce significantly.
