Laura McDonald, BA, BSW, RSW
Clinical Counsellor / Registered Social Worker
I am a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Sociology and a Bachelor of Social Work, practicing primarily with children, youth and families since 2012. With extensive experience working in schools, I specialize in helping children, youth and families navigate a variety of challenges and build resilience.
I have a strong background in case management and crisis response, including expertise in Traumatic Event Systems (TES) and Violent Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA). My experience also extends to working with diverse populations, including the LGBT2S+ community, ensuring inclusive and affirming support for all clients. And drawing from experience working with First Nations and Métis peoples and learning from their cultural practices, I strive to integrate culturally responsive care into my work, ensuring meaningful and respectful support.
Believing in a holistic approach to well-being, I draw from strengths-based, solution focused, and family systems theories to foster healing and growth. I like to incorporate art, play, and talk therapy to engage clients in meaningful ways, creating a safe and supportive space for self-expression. I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment, using humor and strong relationships to build rapport and trust. My goal is to ensure clients feel heard, understood, and empowered as they work toward positive change.
Passionate about supporting individuals and families, I have dedicated my career to providing guidance, advocacy, and compassionate care to my clients.
