Lokadia Sims, BA, MA, CCPA, CCC
Canadian Certified Counsellor/Clinical Counsellor
I am a registered counsellor through CCPA, I have worked with individuals aged six and up using play based therapy models, cognitive behavioural therapy, solution focused therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy as well as narrative therapy models I pull from a variety of models to meet every individual clients needs, as I believe that a combination of approaches can help clients to reach their goals and support them individually wherever they are at on their journey. I work with clients in-person and virtually in our Saskatoon office and am able to work virtually with clients across Canada.
I am a empathetic and experienced clinician who doesn’t beat around the bush, I have learned how to be blunt while still being compassionate and aware of how to attend to client’s emotions and needs in the moment. I will challenge you to push yourself and reach your goals while providing you with the support and accountability you need. I have worked with individuals who have struggled with eating disorders, body image, self esteem, depression, self harm- suicidal ideation and anxiety. I have also worked with individuals struggling with addictions, trauma, grief, borderline personality disorder, emotional dysregulation, healthy boundary development and stress. Additionally, I have worked with couples on building communication, increasing meaningful relationships, managing boundaries, and strengthening values.
I am committed to continuing to develop as a professional, engaging in ongoing personal growth and educational opportunities to continue to provide clients with the support they deserve. I am committed to provide a safe and caring space for clients to feel comfortable enough to allow themselves to express their true selves without judgement in order to allow them to experience transformation.
I understand that it can be difficult to reach out for support, to ask for help as I too have been there before. I understand it can be difficult to be struggling with the things you are dealing with and it can at times feel isolating and lonely to not have a safe space to talk about what is going on. As someone who has been in the darkness before, who has gone through the struggle and come out the other end I can tell you it is worth the challenge, it is worth the fight and it is worth not giving up. Through the challenge or the struggle that you are dealing with right now there is hope, there is possibility to overcome it and you do not have to do it alone. I commit to supporting you with wherever you are at in your journey, to helping you to walk through the journey through all the ups and downs that come. I will continue to be authentic and real with you, pushing you, challenging you, encouraging you and reminding you of the hope and reality that things will get better and that you will get through this. I am passionately committed to helping you walk through these challenges and embrace the freedom and joy in life that you deserve.
