Terri-Lynn Rask, BSW, RSW
Registered Social Worker/MSW Practicum Student

I studied at the University of Regina and achieved my Bachelor of Social Work Degree in 2001.  I am a Registered Social Worker in Saskatchewan and currently enrolled in the Masters of Social Work Degree program. My clinical practicum at Aspire Too is one of the final educational requirements of my pending designation. I have over 15 years of professional experience working with children, individuals and families to support their well-being. Much of my career was spent in the Saskatchewan Health Authority, where I provided direct counseling to individuals, couples and families living with a variety of concerns related to addiction, mental health, life stressors, and relationship issues.

As a person-centered counsellor I believe that clients are the experts in their own lives. I create a safe and caring space for individuals to discover and understand how they can begin to relate to their emotions and world, instead of react to it. Collaboration is essential in my approach. I work alongside people to identify where they might be “stuck”, what their roadblocks might be, the roots of their distress, and the tools necessary to help them get “unstuck”. My ultimate goal is to empower clients to get back into the “driver’s seat” and successfully navigate life in healthier and more joyful ways.

Because each person and couple has unique needs and circumstances, I draw from a multitude of psychotherapy methods, such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, Emotion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. I have extensive experience using an integrated approach of these proven methods with individuals.

I have particular interest and expertise in providing couples therapy. I have specialized training in Emotion Focused Therapy which demonstrates high success rates in relationship repair. I am able to provide strategies needed to help couples shape their relationship into a source of strength and safe harbor in order to thrive.

During my practicum, I will be providing individual and couples counseling to adults (18+) in the areas of:

  • Couples Counseling
  • Infidelity/Affair Recovery
