What is Brainspotting Therapy?

What is Brainspotting Therapy?   What can it help with?

Brainspotting was developed by Dr. David Grand in 2003 and discovered, “where you look affects how you feel.”

Brainspotting is a newer mid-brain therapy; eye positioning, body awareness, and processing through mindfulness is used to outprocess the root of stress and trauma.  Through reprocessing, several emotional and body/somatic conditions can be processed such as:

  • Post Traumatic Stress Symptoms
  • Grief
  • Anxiety and Phobias
  • Depression
  • Addictions
  • Somatic and Chronic Pain
  • Performance Enhancement whether it be in sports or public speaking
  • Goal setting
  • Moving towards ideal self

What can I expect in a Brainspotting Session?

A client will present their issue they would like to work on & their hopes for different outcomes. The Therapist will ask a few curious questions about the issue.  The Therapist will guide the client to an eye position in the visual field that will be used for processing.  Through this process, attention and awareness will be directed on how the body is feeling – noticing sensations without judgment.

During the Brainspotting Session, the client listens to biolateral music; a type of music with sounds that move back and forth between the right and left ears.  This will help to activate the calming part of the nervous system throughout the session.

There is minimal talking through session; most is mindfulness focus on what client notices.

Are Brainspotting Sessions only done in person?

No, sessions are available in person face to face and virtually.  Sessions are 1 hour in length.

If I am interested to try a Brainspotting Session – how do I book a session?

First, book an intake session.  This is important because we want to ensure proper set up, have a self care plan in place and you receive all the information needed about Brainspotting Therapy.

Tiffaney Haydukewich has completed Phase 1 Brainspotting Therapy and excited to offer this with you.  To book a session, please call our office at 1-306-382-2391 or book online.
